Bloodshed in Al-Geneina

Central Sudanese Doctors Committee (non-governmental body) announced today Monday that 18 people have been killed and 54 injured since Saturday evening, following renewed violence in El Geneina, the capital of West Darfur State, as reported by Al Jazeera Mubasher.

Sudanese media reported that unidentified persons shot a car in the Jabal neighborhood, coming from “the village of Melli”, 7 kilometers South of El Geneina, in explaining the renewed clashes for the second day in a row in the city.

The West Darfur State Doctors Committee said in a statement today, that the circle of violence has expanded in El Geneina, leaving dozens of victims dead and wounded, in addition to attacks on medical personnel.

The Defence and Security Committee is holding an emergency meeting in attempts to quell any further events of violence, while the governor of West Darfur s considering declaring a State of Emergency and imposing curfew.
