RSF Thwarts Attempt to Smuggle a Shipment of Ammunition on the Sudan/Libyan Border

The Rapid Support Forces, “Desert Shield Mobile Force” deployed along the Sahara Desert between Sudan, Egypt, Libya, and Chad, managed to thwart any attempt to smuggle a quantity of ammunition on the border with the State of Libya that was on its way into Sudan, in addition to the arrest of (2) members of the arms and ammunition trade gang that operates on the border between the two countries.

Lieutenant-Colonel Othman Abkar, the second commander of the Shafer Lit military base, said in a press statement that as soon as information was received about the activity of smuggled gangs in the Saif al-Barli area on the border triangle, a patrol moved to comb the area, and the unarmed gangs were chased after (10) kilometers from the area, during which the forces managed to From the arrest of the smugglers, revealing that 3,638 rounds of machine guns (Qarnouf) and 357 rounds of DShK cartridges were seized, packed in sacks on board a Sequoia vehicle that smugglers use to carry out their criminal activities.

Lt. Col. Othman affirmed that the Rapid Support Forces will continue to secure the borders and combat arms smuggling, human trafficking, and cross-border crime, adding that they have made great achievements in all axes since the establishment of the Chevrolet military base.
