Interior Ministry Launches Electronic Issuance of Passports and IDs

Within its endeavors to cope with the latest technologies in the globe, the Sudanese Ministry of Interior took the in implementing the Council of Ministers resolution in applying the electronic government.

The Ministry has organized a press conference in which the Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen. Anan Hamid Osman, and the top brass of the police authorities presented the latest technology in providing services to the citizens to ease the process.

In the press conference, the new application “Hawiati” (my identity) through the mobile phone was presented as an application for the IDs, and “Salim” application for traffic police procedures a matter that will save them time and effort in following up any process in this regard.

It is worth mentioning that in a very short time since Lt. Gen. Anan Hamid took over the office as Minister of Interior, the Ministry witnessed a considerable improvement in applying its slogan (Police at the Services of the People).

Through the new application any citizen with his smartphone can apply for issuing his passport, National ID, or car license, through the “Hababak” application from the Google Play store for free, and then follow the step correctly to complete the process.

The ball is now on the pitch of the National Sudanese Telecommunication Authority to make the said application a reality by expanding the internet capacity to enable people in rural areas to benefit from the said services.
