The Sovereignty Council Vice President hosted the Chairman of the African Union Commission

The Vice President of the Sovereign Council, Lieutenant General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, hosted in his office at the Presidential Palace today the Chairman of the African Union Commission, Mr. Moussa Faki, in the presence of the Commissioner for Political Affairs, Security and Peace of the Union, Mr.Bankole Adeoye, Head of the Executive Office, advisor of the Commission Prof.Mohamed Wad Labat and the Ministry Foreign Affairs Deputy, Ambassador Dafalla Al-Haj Ali.

The meeting discussed the political developments taking place in the country, in light of the Framework Agreement signed last December.

The Vice-President of the Sovereignty Council welcomed the visit of the African Union delegation to Sudan, praising the appreciated efforts made by the Union Commission to address the Sudanese political crisis, through its contribution to the tripartite mechanism, as well as its endeavors through other various methods, to bring the views of the Sudanese parties closer.

The Vice-President gave a detailed explanation of all the current political developments, stressing commitment to what was agreed upon, the return of civil rule, to complete the transitional period, leading to the election, and he expressed Sudan’s aspiration for more support for the framework agreement to achieve stability in the country.

For his part, the Chairman of the African Union Commission stated that the visit to Sudan comes within the framework of providing support, and encouraging the parties to move forward towards achieving stability, through the return of civil rule and the achievement of a democratic transition, and expressed his confidence in the ability of the Sudanese to overcome the difficulties they face to reach the final agreement that fulfills the aspirations of the people, stressing the readiness of the African Union Commission to provide full support for the framework agreement to re-establish the stability of Sudan and its return to the African Union.
