Sovereignty Council VP and Russian Foreign Minister Hold a Session of Joint Talks

Moscow February 24 2022 AD — The Deputy Chairman of the Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant-General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, held in the Russian capital, Moscow today, a session of joint talks with the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergey Lavrov, in the presence of Finance Ministers Dr. Gabriel Ibrahim, Agriculture and Forestry Dr. Abu Bakr Omar Al-Bushra, Energy and Oil Mohamed Abdullah Mahmoud, Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Nader Youssef Al-Tayeb, President of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce Nader Al-Hilali and Chargé d’Affairs of the Sudanese Embassy in Moscow Ambassador Onur Ahmed Onur.

The talks reviewed ways to develop and enhance aspects of cooperation between Sudan and Russia in various fields, as well as consultations on bilateral, regional, and international issues of common interest. It focused on the need to expand the base of cooperation in the political, diplomatic, economic, and trade fields. between Khartoum and Moscow.

The two sides agreed to expedite the activation of the agreements signed between the two countries and to hold meetings of the joint ministerial committee, in addition to expediting the work of all joint committees.

In his speech during the talks, the Vice-President of the Sovereignty Council expressed the government’s gratitude for Russia’s continued support and support for Sudan, in all international forums, especially the UN Security Council and the United Nations, praising the Russian people’s support for the Sudanese people throughout history, which contributed to strengthening the bonds of friendship to levels thin.

He pointed out that the visit confirmed Sudan’s determination to advance relations to broader horizons, in addition to strengthening cooperation between the two countries to achieve maximum benefit from their joint capabilities. He indicated that his discussions with the Russian Foreign Minister contributed to creating new understandings that would push joint action to benefit from the great opportunities offered by Sudan, in the fields of agriculture, mining, manufacturing industries, oil and gas, and other economic fields.

For his part, the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, stressed the depth of the Russian-Sudanese relations and pointed out that what unites the two countries is that they are similar in many things, which contributed to creating extended friendship ties based on mutual respect, explaining that his country is aware of the importance of the current developments in Sudan, She is convinced of the Sudanese’s ability to address their problems, calling for non-interference in Sudan’s affairs, and affirming his country’s keenness to raise the level of cooperation with Sudan in the fields of energy, agriculture, mining, and environmental protection. The Russian Foreign Minister stressed that Sudan enjoys promising opportunities that will change the country’s reality in The future, calling for the removal of many complications that hinder the flow of Russian investments, including investment laws, pointing to the readiness of Russian companies to start investment operations in Sudan.
