President of South Sudan Receives the Vice-President of the Sovereignty Council

Juba 11/08/2022 – The President of the Republic of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, received today in Juba, Vice-President of the Sovereign Council, Lieutenant-General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, in the presence of President Salva Kiir’s Adviser for Security Affairs Tut Qalwak, Minister of the Presidency of the Republic Barnaba Benjamin and Sudanese Ambassador to Juba Jamal Malik.

The meeting discussed the close bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and ways to enhance and develop them in all fields.

The Vice-President of the Sovereignty Council praised the efforts of the President of the Republic of South Sudan, Salva Kiir, in reaching with the peace parties a roadmap to complete the revitalized peace agreement, declaring his full support and support for what the parties have reached, noting that he had heard assurances from President Salva Kiir that the integrated forces would graduate at the end of this month. He pointed out that the two-year period agreed upon by the parties is not far away, calling for continued efforts to sustain peace so that the people of South Sudan enjoy stability, stressing continuing to follow up on the implementation of the agreement and intensifying contacts with all parties to reach a lasting and comprehensive peace.

For his part, Counselor Tut Qalwak welcomed the visit of the Vice-President of the Sovereignty Council, and Chairman of the Supreme Committee to Follow up on the Implementation of the Revitalized Peace Agreement in South Sudan, noting that the visit comes within the framework of the ongoing efforts of the Daglo team to follow up on the implementation of the peace agreement, referring to what President Salva Kiir presented enlightenment to the Vice-President of the Sovereignty Council on what has been reached between the parties to achieve stability in southern Sudan.
