Transitional Period President of Mali Receives Member of the Sovereignty Council and Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Kabashi

The President of the Transitional Period of Mali, Assimi Goïta, received at the presidential palace in the Malian capital, Bamako, the Member of the Sovereignty Council and Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Shams Al-Din Kabashi.

The meeting discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries, ways to develop them, and aspects of joint cooperation between Sudan and the Sahel countries in security fields and the coordination of positions with regional and international organizations.

The member of the Sovereignty Council provided a briefing on the situation in Sudan and the violations by the rebel militia.

The two sides exchanged information on terrorism and transnational crimes.

Both parties agreed to establish protocols for cooperation in political, economic, cultural, and other fields, in addition to signing memorandums of understanding between the Ministries of Defense and Foreign Affairs of both countries. They also agreed to open a Sudanese embassy in Mali and to resume the work of the Malian consulate in Sudan, which was closed after the terrorist militia’s attack on it in Khartoum.
