Fierce battles continue between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the Jili area, north of Khartoum, as reports indicate that the army is reinforcing its control over positions in the heart of the capital.

On Saturday, September 28, clashes resumed between army forces and the RSF, with military sources informing Al Jazeera that the Sudanese army is advancing in central Khartoum, supported by military reinforcements crossing the White Nile Bridge.

Sudanese army forces have taken control of the tourist area of Al-Muqran, advancing east towards the Friendship Hall and south towards strategic locations southeast of the stadium tunnel in the capital. Additionally, the army has conducted extensive airstrikes on RSF positions south of Khartoum.

On Thursday, September 26, the Sudanese army launched a major offensive aimed at seizing control of Khartoum and its three cities. Observers in Sudan agree that the operation was well-planned, with factors contributing to its potential success, as noted by experts.

The army has firmly established itself in designated locations, while the RSF has struggled to push back, suffering significant human and material losses. Al Jazeera’s correspondent reported that the Sudanese army has effectively cut off support to the RSF by conducting extensive aerial operations over the three cities of the capital, making any attempts at reinforcement via what is termed “emergency forces” nearly impossible.
