Chairman of the Sovereign Council Witnesses Signing of Agreements in Solar Energy, Mining, and Transmission Lines

On the sidelines of his participation in the China-Africa Forum in Beijing, Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, witnessed the signing of agreements in the fields of solar energy, mining, and transmission lines. The signing ceremony was attended by the Minister of Energy and Oil, Engineer Mohieddin Naim Mohamed Said, Sudan’s Ambassador to Beijing, Omar Sadiq, and the Director General of the Defense Industries System, Lieutenant General Mirghani Idris.

Engineer Anas Ahmed Al-Badawi, CEO of the Energy and Mining Group, stated that several memorandums of understanding and contracts were signed with Chinese companies. He noted that these agreements are part of efforts to bridge the energy gap, emphasizing the shift towards clean energy and solar power. The contracts aim to produce 1,500 megawatts of solar energy, along with the implementation of solar-powered electrical equipment to reduce electricity costs.

Al-Badawi also mentioned the signing of agreements with Chinese electricity companies for the repair of transmission lines and the provision of necessary equipment and transformers to facilitate the transfer of electricity from generation sites to areas of consumption. Additionally, memorandums of understanding were signed in the mining sector for the extraction of precious metals through strategic partnerships with Chinese institutions, with a particular focus on iron ore, a resource in which Sudan is rich

Wang Zihu, Chairman of the CCCC Group, highlighted that these agreements reinforce the strategic partnership between China and Sudan. He mentioned that the total value of these agreements is $30 million and expressed hope that these agreements will bring prosperity to the Sudanese economy, while also underscoring the strong diplomatic ties between Beijing and Khartoum.

The Chairman of the Sovereign Council also held successful and productive meetings with the directors of several Chinese companies operating in the fields of oil, solar energy, and electricity, which culminated in the signing of these agreements.
