AU Issues Statement to Clarify its Position on Tripartite Mechanism

Khartoum- The African Union issued a press statement on Wednesday regarding what was published on Tuesday about its withdrawal from the tripartite mechanism on the Sudanese dialogue, which includes it, the IGAD and UNTAMIS.

The African Union indicated that “following the inaccurate interpretations of the speech of the Special Representative of the African Union in Sudan, the same source confirms that the African Union has not withdrawn from the tripartite mechanism, which it actively participated in establishing.

According to the statement, the head of the African Union mission stressed that he would not attend part of the activities due to the lack of transparency and respect for all parties, and demanded strict commitment to the non-exclusion in the political process in order to ensure its success in line with the principles and values of the continental organization.
