Kassala Celebrates Harvest Festival and World Food Day

Today, Kassala State is hosting celebrations for the Harvest Festival and World Food Day. The event is attended by Minister of Agriculture Dr. Abu Bakr Omar Al-Bushra, Minister of Federal Governance Mohamed Kortikila Saleh, and Kassala Governor Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Al-Sadiq Mohamed Al-Azraq, along with the resident representative of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). The celebration is under the patronage of Sovereignty Council member Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Jaber, who oversees the economic file and chairs the Supreme Committee for the Success of the Agricultural Season.

In a press statement, Minister of Agriculture Abu Bakr Al-Bushra stated, “The total agricultural land cultivated in the country this year exceeds 40 million acres, with 17 million acres planted with sorghum.” He emphasized that the focus on sorghum aims to achieve food security, anticipating a high yield for the crop this season.
