British NGO Human Appeal Launches Largest Wartime Initiative in Omdurman
Human Appeal, a UK-based organization, has implemented its largest project in Omdurman during the ongoing conflict. The “Cash for Work” initiative, carried out in collaboration with Omdurman Municipality and funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), aims to employ 2,100 young men and women.
Spanning three months, the project focuses on clearing debris and garbage from residential areas, main and side streets, and markets across all administrative units in Omdurman. Each worker receives a daily wage of 20,000 Sudanese pounds.
The initiative operates through two teams, each comprising two groups of 175 participants, working on a weekly rotation.
