Chaired by Al-Burhan: Sovereign and Ministerial Councils Hold Joint Meeting in Khartoum

The Transitional Sovereign Council and the Council of Ministers held a joint meeting in the capital, Khartoum, today, chaired by the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan. This meeting follows the return of the Sovereign Council and the “Government of Hope” to resume their duties from Khartoum.

In a press statement, the Minister of Culture, Information, and Tourism, Mr. Khalid Al-Aisar, explained that this meeting is the first for the two councils in 2026, marking the practical inauguration of the executive government’s return to operate with all its components from the national capital, Khartoum.

The Minister announced that the joint meeting approved the 2026 State Emergency Budget, noting that national and executive state institutions are functioning with high efficiency. He added that the meeting passed several laws, while other draft laws remain under review.

“We are pleased, alongside all members of the Sovereign Council led by Al-Burhan, the Prime Minister, and the Government of Hope, to announce to our people that we are now exercising our duties from the heart of Khartoum,” Al-Aisar stated. He also issued an appeal to all citizens to return to their homes, emphasizing the government’s commitment to honoring the heroic stances embodied by the Sudanese people over the past years in the struggle to restore Khartoum to its rightful status.

The Information Minister expressed his deep appreciation for the immense sacrifices made by the Armed Forces and supporting forces in the “Battle of Dignity,” praying for mercy upon the martyrs of duty who gave their lives for the homeland.
