The Chairman of the Sovereignty Council and the Emir of Qatar Hold Bilateral Talks on Strengthening and Enhancing Mechanisms of Joint Cooperation

The Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the State of Qatar, held bilateral talks today at the Amiri Diwan. The discussions focused on the trajectory of Sudanese-Qatari relations and ways to support and develop them in a manner that serves the interests of both brotherly nations.

Al-Burhan expressed his gratitude to the Emir of Qatar for the warm welcome and generous hospitality, praising Qatar’s honorable stances in support of Sudan.

He emphasized Sudan’s keenness to enhance cooperation between the two countries, noting the deep-rooted ties that bind Sudan and Qatar.

His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani welcomed the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council and the accompanying delegation, expressing his hope that this visit would contribute to strengthening bilateral cooperation and propelling it to broader horizons.

During the meeting, the progress of bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields was reviewed, along with discussions on developments in Sudan and international efforts to achieve security, stability, and peace, in a manner that preserves Sudan’s unity and sovereignty over all its territory.

The Sudanese delegation included Ambassador Mohi El-Din Salem, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, Minister of Finance; Dr. Amina Mirghani, Governor of the Central Bank; Lieutenant General Ahmed Ibrahim Mufaddal, Director of the General Intelligence Service; Ambassador Badr El-Din Abdullah, Sudanese Ambassador to Qatar; and Major General Adel Sabdarat, Director of the Office of the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council.

The Qatari delegation included His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; His Excellency Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Khulaifi, Chief of the Amiri Diwan; His Excellency Ali bin Ahmed Al-Kuwari, Minister of Finance; His Excellency Khalfan bin Ali Al-Kaabi, Head of the State Security Service; His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi, Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and a number of senior officials.
