Trump Signs Executive Order Imposing Tariffs on Countries Trading with Iran

US President Donald Trump signed an executive order imposing tariffs of, for example, 25% on countries trading with Iran. The White House announced this on February 6.

“Beginning on the effective date of this executive order, goods imported into the United States that are products of any country that directly or indirectly purchases, imports, or otherwise receives any goods or services from Iran may be subject to an additional ad valorem tariff, such as 25%,” the order states.

It notes that Iran’s policies allegedly continue to pose an “unusual and extraordinary threat” to the United States.

Also, according to the executive order published by the White House, the United States will lift the previously imposed 25% tariff on imports from India effective February 7, as the country allegedly refused to purchase Russian oil.
