Exclusive Report: Overnight Container Transfer and Alleged UAE Operations in Bosaso Raise Regional Concerns
By Abdiasis Farah Said
Bosaso, Somalia – Brown Land News has received exclusive video footage showing 20 containers transported at approximately 3:30AM from a UAE-operated base in Bosaso to Bosaso Port. The containers are expected to be loaded onto the cargo vessel Socotra 3, which arrived at the port yesterday.Witnesses report that the containers were moved under heightened security during early morning hours. Residents have questioned why the transfer occurred before dawn, noting that routine commercial shipments are typically handled during normal working hours. The timing and security presence have fueled speculation about the cargo’s nature.Local sources allege that the containers may contain mining resources, including gold believed to originate from Sudan’s Darfur region — areas where the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) operate — as well as from parts of Puntland. These claims remain unverified, and no official cargo manifest has been made public. The developments come amid broader allegations that the United Arab Emirates continues to use Bosaso’s airport and seaport facilities despite reported restrictions announced by the Federal Government of Somalia. Airport sources have claimed that UAE-linked aircraft land during late-night hours, though Brown Land News has not independently confirmed these reports. Security analysts warn that if Bosaso is being used as a logistical route connected to Sudan’s conflict, it could carry wider regional implications. The RSF’s role in Sudan’s ongoing crisis has drawn international scrutiny, and any alleged supply or resource route could risk further destabilizing Sudan. Observers argue that regional allies — including Saudi Arabia and Egypt — may need to closely monitor developments surrounding foreign operations in Bosaso, particularly given the Red Sea’s strategic importance and the fragile security situation in Sudan. The UAE has previously denied allegations of supporting armed groups in Sudan. As of publication, no official statements have been issued by UAE authorities, Puntland officials, or Somalia’s federal government addressing the specific claims raised in this report. Brown Land News will continue to investigate and seek formal clarification regarding the reported container transfer and the broader allegations of continued foreign operations in Bosaso.
