IGAD calls on the government of Sudan to unfreeze its membership in the organization
The Sudanese government, led
by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, is considering a request from the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) to lift the suspension of its membership in the regional organization. A former African Union diplomat stated that discussions are underway, originating from the government’s headquarters in Port Sudan, Red Sea State, aiming to engage in negotiations to halt the ongoing war, based on certain conditions presented to IGAD, with potential responses from the Sudanese government.
