Targeting of Aid Convoys by Terrorist Militias is a War Crime and a Violation of International Law
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation issued a statement condemning the terrorist attack carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia on Friday, February 6, 2026. The RSF targeted trucks belonging to the World Food Programme (WFP) with drones while they were carrying out humanitarian missions to deliver food aid to civilians affected in North Kordofan State, specifically in the areas of Allah Karim, Al-Samih, Al-Rahad, and the city of Umm Ruwaba. The attack resulted in casualties and the destruction of relief supplies intended for humanitarian response.
The statement reads as follows:
The Government of Sudan condemns the criminal attack carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia on Friday, February 6, 2026.
The government affirms that targeting relief convoys and humanitarian infrastructure constitutes a grave violation of the principles of international humanitarian law, particularly the Geneva Conventions, and represents a deliberate undermining of efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to those in need.
The Government of Sudan draws the attention of the international community to the fact that this attack is not an isolated incident, but rather a continuation of a pattern of behavior by the terrorist militia aimed at obstructing humanitarian work and using food deprivation as a means of exerting pressure on civilians. This occurs in full view of the international community, which has remained silent in the face of these war crimes that demand accountability. In this context, the Government of Sudan calls upon the international community to unequivocally condemn these practices and to take the necessary measures to ensure that the Rapid Support Forces terrorist militia and its backers are held accountable.
The Government of Sudan reiterates its commitment to full cooperation with the United Nations and its humanitarian agencies, and to doing everything necessary to ensure the unimpeded delivery of aid to those who need it.
