TPLF: Let us focus on our national agendas
“We must remain firmly focused on our national agendas and, as always, intensify our struggle against agendas that are being spread to weaken and divide our unity and strength.”
This statement was issued by the organization Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) in its weekly message titled “Let us focus on our national agendas.”
The organization stated that the people of Tigray are facing an existential threat, and that the genocide committed against them in recent years continues in different forms.
According to the statement, about forty percent of Tigray’s territory remains occupied, while the population has been displaced and forced into exile. The people are suffering daily from hunger and disease, and deaths continue to occur every day.
The TPLF also emphasized that in other parts of Tigray, due to restrictions imposed by the Government of Ethiopia, essential services have been blocked. These include:
✍️Medicines
✍️Salaries for government employees
✍️Budget allocations
✍️Banking services
✍️Fuel supplies
Other basic services
As a result, Tigray has fallen into an increasingly severe socio-economic crisis.
The organization further stated that this crisis is part of a deliberate strategy by the Ethiopian government to complete the genocide declared against the people of Tigray years ago. It also warned that preparations are underway for another round of war, claiming that military forces and equipment are being mobilized around Tigray.
According to the statement, both the people of Tigray and their leading organization, the TPLF, have repeatedly called—based on the Pretoria Peace Agreement—for the following:
➥The liberation of Tigray’s constitutionally recognized territories
➥The safe return of displaced and exiled citizens to their homes
➥Freedom for people suffering under occupation
➥The lifting of inhumane blockades
➥The cessation of military threats
➥Resolution of political differences through dialogue
However, the organization claims that the Government of Ethiopia has rejected these calls, leaving the people of Tigray in a serious existential danger.
The statement also warns that misleading agendas are being spread both internally and externally to distract the people from their core national concerns.
These agendas, according to the organization, are designed to divide the unity of the people, weaken their institutions, and prevent them from effectively resisting the dangers they face. They are described as calculated efforts connected to the broader plan of genocide against Tigray.
The TPLF also stated that the political developments and “dramas” seen since the Ethiopian government’s decisions affecting Tigray’s constitutional territorial sovereignty are part of the broader campaign targeting Tigray.
Despite this, the organization expressed confidence that the people of Tigray will continue to firmly resist any agendas aimed at weakening their unity and strength.
The message concludes by stating
at both the people of Tigray and their leading organization, the TPLF, remain focused on the core national agendas of the Tigrayan people.
Their priority is to:
👉End the suffering and deaths of their people
👉Strengthen their collective defense capacity
👉Reinforce national institutions
👉Build the capability needed to confront ongoing existential threats
👉Ensure the continuity and survival of their people
The organization emphasized that they will continue confronting any agendas that attempt to divert attention from these fundamental national priorities.
