Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, returned to the country today at noon from the United Arab Emirates after he led the Sudanese delegation in talks with the American side that lasted for three days.

The discussions were characterized by seriousness and frankness and discussed a number of issues of common concern, foremost of which is the issue of removing Sudan from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism and other restrictions imposed by the United States on Sudanese citizens, such as the denial of Sudanese participation in the lottery, the Darfur Peace Act, and others.

The talks discussed a number of regional issues, foremost among which is the future of Arab-Israeli peace, which leads to stability in the region and preserves the right of the Palestinian people to establish their state in accordance with the vision of the two-state solution, and the role that Sudan is expected to play in achieving this peace.

The results of these discussions will be presented to the transitional government bodies in order to discuss them and reach a common vision about it that achieves the country’s interests.
