Khartoum – 28/04/2022 — Lieutenant-General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, Vice-President of the Sovereign Council, met with the delegation of international envoys headed by the envoy of the European Union, an envoy from the US administration, the envoy from Norway, the envoy of the United Kingdom, the German envoy and the French envoy, in the presence of the ambassadors of their countries, while the meeting was attended by the Sudanese undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The designated foreign minister, Ambassador Nader Youssef, and a number of officials.
The delegation emphasized that its visit to Sudan of this magnitude is an expression of their countries’ support for the transition process in Sudan.
The meeting discussed the efforts exerted to initiate dialogue between the Sudanese parties, facilitated by the tripartite mechanism represented by the United Nations, the African Union and IGAD, and to create the appropriate environment for dialogue to secure the formation of a new government and the completion of the transition process leading to the holding of elections.
The meeting stressed the need for the participation of all groups of women and youth.
General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo gave a detailed explanation to the envoys about the overall situation in the country and the efforts made by the government to resolve all issues, including the importance of consensus among all Sudanese, stressing support for the tripartite initiative between the United Nations, the African Union and IGAD as a facilitator of dialogue.
