
Dagalo Witnesses Funeral of 18 Martyrs Who Were Killed by Chadian Marauders

Al-Geneina 05/08/2022 – The citizens of Al-Geneina buried today the bodies of 18 martyrs who were assassinated yesterday afternoon, Thursday, in the Bir Saliba area in Sirba locality, following an ambush they were exposed to while following the trail of camels looted on Wednesday by Chadian Marauders.
At the head of the mourners were Deputy Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council, Lieutenant-General Muhammad Hamdan Daglo, Deputy Governor of West Darfur, Professor Al-Tijani Al-Taher Karshoum, Lieutenant-General Khaled Abdeen Al-Shami, Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, Lieutenant-General Muhammad Ibrahim, the police representative, and Major General Security Abu Obeida Mirghani, representative of the intelligence service, and security committee of the state.

The Vice-President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council offered condolences to the families of the martyrs and demanded citizens exercise restraint so that the state can take the necessary measures that preserve their rights, stressing that protecting citizens is the state’s responsibility in terms that the state is responsible for protecting the country’s borders.
He revealed an upcoming visit to the area of the accident to investigate more about the incident and put appropriate measures not to recur, pointing out that the issue of repeated attacks on citizens on the Sudanese-Chadian borders is the responsibility of the joint forces and that there are decisions that will be taken, instructing citizens not to gather and follow the trail of the bandits, stating that this is the responsibility of the joint forces, pointing to decisive decisions that will be taken regarding the borders during the emergency meeting of the Security and Defense Committee that will be held today in light of the security developments that occurred yesterday evening on the Chadian-Sudanese borders, which claimed the lives of 18 Sudanese citizens and several wounded.

For his part, the deputy governor of West Darfur, Professor Al-Tijani Al-Taher Karshoum, explained that the state security committee was closely following these attacks and had taken decisions regarding them, calling for restraint and wisdom, and leaving the matter of protecting them to the competent authorities.
To that, Prince Hafez Taj al-Din and Mayor Abdullah Adam, representing the families of the martyrs, revealed the details of the attack, calling on the government to protect them.
