Sovereignty Member, Lt-Gen Shams El-Din Kabbashi, Meets the Chinese Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa

Khartoum 21/09/2022 – Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Shams El-Din Kabbashi, met today in his office at the Republican Palace, with the Chinese Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa, Xue Ping. The meeting touched on the well-established relations between Sudan and China and ways to support prospects for joint cooperation between the two countries.

In a press statement, Ping said that his visit to Sudan comes within the framework of strengthening and promoting friendly relations between the two countries, and strengthening strategic partnerships between them, pointing to their joint coordination in international forums.

The Chinese Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa described the meeting as constructive and fruitful, touching on the course of bilateral relations and exchanging common visions on regional and international issues. He added that the Horn of Africa region is very important, as it enjoys a strategic location that has made it vulnerable to external interference. Pointing out his country’s rejection of all forms of foreign interference in this region. He affirmed China’s support for promoting economic integration in the Horn of Africa and settling differences through dialogue.

Ping affirmed his country’s readiness to provide support and assistance to Sudan in the areas of economic and social development.

He said he briefed the member of the Sovereignty Council on China’s vision for peace and development in the Horn of Africa. He added that his visit to Sudan comes within the framework of exchanging visions and ideas on establishing peace and security in this region.
