Vice-President of the Sovereignty Council General Mohamed Hamdan Daglo met today at his office with Christoph Retzlaff, Director of the Sub-Saharan Africa and Sahel Department at the German Foreign Ministry, and Christoph Pigou, Director of the Africa and Indian Ocean Department at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The meeting discussed Sudan’s relations with both countries and ways to enhance them in all fields, in a way that serves common interests, in addition to the political developments taking place in Sudan.
The Vice-President of the Sovereignty Council expressed Sudan’s welcome to the efforts of France, Germany and the European Union in bringing the views of the Sudanese closer together, pointing out to the military component’s withdrawal from political action and making way for the civilians.
His Excellency referred to the obstacles facing the implementation of the peace agreement, especially the implementation of the security arrangements clause. Daglo noted the efforts made by Sudan to enhance regional and international stability, especially in the areas of combating terrorism and illegal immigration.
For his part, Christoph Retzlaff, Director of the Sub-Saharan Africa and Sahel Department at the German Foreign Ministry, said that his visit to Sudan came within the framework of Germany and the European Union’s support to complete the transitional period, noting that his country will work with all parties to enhance stability in Sudan.
For his part, Christophe Pigot, Director of the Africa and Indian Ocean Department at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed his hope that the Sudanese would reach an agreement that would end the political crisis in the country, and lead to the completion of the transitional period and general elections.
