Sudan and Iran stress the importance of restoring diplomatic relations between them.

On the sidelines of his participation in the ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ali Sadiq Ali, met with his Iranian counterpart, Hussein Amir Abdollahian, where the Minister expressed his appreciation for the humanitarian assistance provided by the Iranian Red Crescent to Sudan during the current crisis. His Excellency also congratulated his Iranian counterpart on restoring his country’s diplomatic relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which would enhance security and stability in the region and the Islamic world.
During the meeting, the Minister reviewed the developments of internal events in Sudan, stressing that the armed forces are able to resolve the rebellion in a short period of time. However, what is delaying the military settlement now is the presence of the rebels inside government facilities and citizens’ homes, and that the Sudanese army does not wish to pursue a scorched earth policy in the capital by demolishing all The buildings they are hiding in.
In turn, the Iranian minister expressed his deep regret over the situation in Sudan, stressing that the Iranian government considers that what is happening in the country is an internal matter and that the solution must be Sudanese without any external interference. He added that Sudan has historically played a pivotal role in supporting the issues of the Islamic world, wishing the return of stability to our country as soon as possible.
In addition, the two parties discussed the matter of restoring relations between the two countries as soon as possible, in a way that benefits both countries. The two sides also emphasized the importance of restoring the Sudanese-Iranian relations to their previous state, in order to enable the two countries to benefit from opportunities for joint cooperation in various fields.
