As part of my visit and the accompanying delegation to the People’s Republic of China, we met yesterday with the General Manager of the Chinese National Petroleum Company CNPC, and the vice chairman of PetroChina and members of the company’s management, I was accompanied in this meeting by the Minister of Finance, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dafallah Al-Hajj, where the meeting discussed the company’s 28 years of experience in Sudan and the establishment of a modern system for the oil industry in Sudan.

We discussed several issues, including Chinese investments in Sudan, their expansion, and increasing oil production, in addition to investment in the field of renewable energy. We touched on the current investment opportunities available in the safe states and the company’s continued support for training Sudanese men and women in the field of oil and energy. And the opportunity for the company to work on rebuilding the country following the war. The general manager of the Chinese National Petroleum Company assured us of their support for Sudan in its current ordeal.

I also thanked them for opening the Chinese Hospital in the Blue Nile Region last week.

The Minister of Finance, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, addressed the issue of Chinese debts and provided a detailed explanation of the Sudanese government’s strategy to repay these debts, which includes increasing investment in the oil sector. He pointed to the imminent signing of an agreement between the governments of Sudan and South Sudan on the transit of oil, especially since it is one of the issues that the Chinese National Company pays attention to. and he explained that the negotiations between the two countries are witnessing great progress, the possibility of the company in investing in the field of electric energy has been raised and the readiness of the Ministry of Finance and economic planning to embark on this project, especially since a large sector of the states of Sudan needs continuous and stable electrical supply.

The General Manager of the Chinese National Petroleum Corporation expressed his happiness with receiving us and their desire and the desire of the Chinese government to continue the economic cooperation between the two countries and to stand by the Sudanese people, which is clearly demonstrated by their continued provision of technical support to Sudanese oil institutions in a number of oil fields, and this cooperation is based on The historical friendship between the two countries and the policy of economic cooperation and joint work.
