Al Jazeera Live platforms shared misleading and out-of-context statements from the Vice President in two points:

Press Clarification

Yesterday evening, the Vice President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council was in a televised interview on Al Jazeera Live, in the “Al-Masa’iyah” program with the presenter Ahmed Taha, discussing several points about the current Sudanese political situation. After the interview, Al Jazeera Live platforms shared misleading and out-of-context statements from the Vice President in two points:

  1. Misleading Statement 1: Stating that the army committed violations against Sudanese citizens.
  • The accurate statement is: Military errors are common during all wars and are committed by armies worldwide, with many examples.
  1. Misleading Statement 2: Approval of the Sovereignty Council for a progressive interview.
  • The correct statement is: The Sovereignty Council responded with the possibility of a progressive interview like other Sudanese political forces they meet.

The failure of Al Jazeera Live and its platforms to examine credibility and accuracy in front of the Sudanese people necessitated clarifying the truth of these statements to the public opinion. We want to draw the attention of other media outlets that we will not allow the manipulation of statements by Sudanese officials and the direction of the Sudanese government.

Here, we remind all journalists and media workers in satellite channels and their platforms that credibility in news reporting is more important than misleading journalistic scoops. The truth alone will liberate the Sudanese people from the grip of the rebellious Rapid Support Forces and their supporters.
