Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni Receivesthe vice president of the Transitional Sovereignty Council

Entebbe, 22/2/2024

Today, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni received the Deputy Head of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Malik Akar Air, in the city of Entebbe.

The Deputy Head of the Sovereignty Council conveyed greetings from General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, the head of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and thanked Museveni for Uganda’s efforts and endeavors to end the war in Sudan.

He emphasized that the ongoing war in Sudan is a colonial war that targets Sudanese citizens. He pointed out that the rebel leaders and their allies inside and in neighboring and European countries are working to market the violations of the rebellious Rapid Support Forces militia, portraying them as a war aiming for democracy and against the Muslim Brotherhood. He stated that these are mere slogans for political cover and propaganda, justifying the militia’s violations, which are fundamentally a creation of the Bashir regime.

He stated that the Sudanese government is eager to end the war and is working towards that goal.

The meeting also addressed the obstacles facing Sudanese students at various education levels and the issue of doctors needing permission to work in Ugandan hospitals. President Museveni promised to resolve these issues.

Both sides agreed to establish a mechanism for follow-up through the Sudanese embassy in the Republic of Uganda.

At the end of the meeting, President Museveni expressed his happiness and appreciation for the determination of the Sudanese people to resolve the crisis they are facing. Deputy Head of the Sovereignty Council expressed his gratitude to Uganda, both the government and the people, for the warm hospitality and reception that Sudanese citizens received in their second home.
