Head of Sovereignty Council Meets Secretary-General of the Great Lakes Organization

Port Sudan, April 18, 2024

Today, the Head of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, met with the Secretary-General of the Great Lakes Organization, Ambassador John Samuel Caholo, in the presence of Acting Foreign Minister Hussein Awad Ali.

The Head of the Sovereignty Council expressed Sudan’s gratitude and appreciation for the organization’s efforts and its standing alongside Sudan. He emphasized the importance of the organization, and others alike, accurately reflecting the situation in Sudan without distortion.

He affirmed the capability of the armed forces to defeat rebellion and expel it from every inch of Sudan, with the will of the Sudanese people firmly supporting their national army.

In a press statement, the Secretary-General of the Great Lakes Organization expressed the organization’s desire to contribute to resolving the Sudanese crisis and to halt the war that has caused destruction in Sudan.

He pledged the organization’s adoption of Sudan’s vision in the coming stage and its clear representation in all international platforms without distorting the facts.

Acting Foreign Minister Hussein Awad Ali clarified that the meeting falls within the organization’s efforts to communicate with African leaders and resolve crises.

He pointed out that the organization issued a clear statement condemning the violations of the rebellious terrorist Rapid Support Forces militia, describing them as an unlawful group.
