Head of the Sovereignty Council, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, visits the cities of Merowe and Dongola in the Northern State

During his two-day visit to the Northern State, the Head of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, arrived in the city of Merowe amidst official and popular receptions.

Upon his arrival, he inspected the command of the 19th Infantry Division in Merowe and received comprehensive briefings on the overall situation in the Northern State.

General al-Burhan expressed satisfaction with the efforts of the division’s leadership in securing the area, commending the popular support for the armed forces and their involvement in popular resistance.

The Commander-in-Chief also toured the market in Merowe, assessing the flow of goods, prices, and the overall commercial activity in the city.

He also visited the city of Dongola, holding meetings with the government of the Northern State and the state’s security committee to assess the security and economic situation.

During his tour of Dongola’s market, he inspected the availability of goods and services and their accessibility to citizens.

The Head of the Sovereignty Council also inspected the city’s land port.

The Governor of the Northern State stated in a press release that the state government is taking steady steps towards achieving economic security for all Sudanese citizens. He highlighted the Sovereignty Council’s recognition of the state government’s efforts in securing all state borders through coordination between the 19th Infantry Division, other law enforcement agencies, and popular resistance. He added that his government is making significant efforts to monitor dormant cells and thwart their plans to undermine security and stability in the state.

The Governor also mentioned that General al-Burhan reviewed the state’s preparations to reopen schools in May and was assured, through the presented executive report, of the state’s stability, the timely payment of salaries to employees, and the stability of the winter season. He praised the state government’s efforts in promoting investment and urban development.
