Government rejects US Treasury Department’s sanctions on Sudanese Defense Industries Director General

Government denounces US administration’s justification for sanctions that armed forces pursue to obtain weapons because it defies logic and justice
– Government of Sudan expressed its surprise and rejection of the US Treasury Department’s imposition of sanctions on the Director General of the Sudanese Defense Industries System.
The government said, in a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday, that it denounces the US administration’s justification for sanctions that armed forces sought to obtain weapons, because it defies logic and justice, given that the mission of national armies is originally to defend their countries and peoples and acquire all the reasons for strength that enable them to do so. Without this, it will not be possible to achieve security, peace and stability at the national, regional and international levels.
“This decision means that the US administration is still turning a blind eye to the source of the flow of weapons and mercenaries to the rebel terrorist Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia to continue its war on the Sudanese people, despite the successive documented testimonies in the international and American arenas, and the demands from American lawmakers to take serious measures against the militia sponsors responsible for the continuation and fueling of the war,” it added. Instead, the US administration seeks to strip the Sudanese Armed Forces of the capabilities that enable them to protect citizens against genocide, ethnic cleansing and unprecedented atrocities committed by the terrorist rebel RSF militia.
The government stressed, in its statement, that the US administration’s attempt to pretend neutrality between the armed forces and the militia will not absolve it of its moral and political responsibility for the continued massacres of civilians in Sudan at the hands of the terrorist militia, as is currently happening in Eastern Al-Gezira and Al-Butana.
