Dr. Martin Elia Lomurö: South Sudan’s transitional period has officially been extended for two more years starting tomorrow, February 22, 2025.

The extension, agreed upon by political leaders, aims to allow time for key reforms, including the drafting of a permanent constitution, electoral preparations, and security sector reform. The new timeline pushes the transition period to end with a newly elected Government in February, 2027.

The revitalized Transition Government of National Unity (RTGONU) assures citizens that this move is necessary for ensuring a stable and peaceful transition.
