Humanitarian Aid Commissioner Affirms Sudan’s Commitment to Opening Corridors

Port Sudan, May 20, 2025 – Brwon land – Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid, Salwa Adam Benia, reaffirmed the Sudanese government’s commitment to opening corridors to deliver humanitarian aid to those in need, as agreed upon in the Jeddah Platform. She revealed the opening of 12 sea, air, and land crossings, with a three-month extension for the Adre and El Tina crossings.

Benia noted that the El Tina crossing is open and has been utilized to support five states in Darfur. However, she expressed regret that aid has not reached those in need in North Darfur state, citing the existence of two northern crossings from Egypt (Arqin and Ashkeit).

She added that Port Sudan has two sea and air crossings that remain underutilized. Furthermore, the Renk and Joda crossings by land and river are also not being utilized.

Benia clarified that while organizations have the right to deliver food aid, the entry of personnel requires separate procedures through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant authorities.

The announcement was made during the 26th enlightenment forum organized by the Sudan News Agency, hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Information, featuring the Advisor to the Sovereignty Council for Humanitarian Affairs.
