Calls for Probe Into Possible Remaining UAE Personnel at Bosaso PMPF Base

Bosaso, Somalia — Fresh questions have emerged over whether foreign personnel linked to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) remain at the Bosaso-based Puntland Maritime Police Force (PMPF), despite Somalia’s federal government cancelling all security and defence agreements with the UAE.

Local sources speaking to Brown Land say a small number of UAE-associated foreign employees may still be operating at or near PMPF facilities, raising concerns that the withdrawal has not been fully completed.

The Somali government earlier announced it had ended all UAE security cooperation, citing the need to protect national sovereignty and bring all security arrangements under federal authority.

Political observers and civil society voices are now urging the Federal Government of Somalia to carry out a transparent investigation to verify the situation and ensure the complete withdrawal of any remaining foreign presence.

So far, no official statement has been issued specifically addressing the claims related to Bosaso. Analysts say clarity from authorities would help avoid uncertainty and reaffirm Somalia’s control over its security institutions.
