Developments in the USA will likely lead to strengthened engagement between Trump and African and Muslim leaders. A pro-Trump website “News Talk Florida” has recently published an article by Sudanese writer and former diplomat Mekki Elmograbi “Why Trump’s Vision Resonates Beyond Borders”, highlighting his perspective on the American political divide. Elmograbi, who served in Washington, DC, during Obama’s second term and Trump’s first, shared his observations on the contrasts between the two administrations and why he supports Trump’s conservative vision.
Elmograbi after he finished his term in Washington as a diplomat and returned home in 2020, got the advantage when he became free and independent and sharply criticized Democrats for exploiting events like George Floyd’s death for political gain, arguing that such tactics offered little tangible benefit to minorities.
Surprisingly, Mekki defended Trump’s controversial statement, “Islam hates us,” interpreting it as a reflection of widespread misunderstanding rather than malice. Elmograbi emphasized the importance of dialogue between Muslims and conservatives to address misconceptions and counter liberal distortions of religion and family values.
While affirming his nonpartisan identity as a Sudanese Muslim, Elmograbi –in his 2020 video- expressed appreciation for Trump’s leadership in ending the misrepresentation of African and Muslim issues. He also highlighted his engagement with African American Muslims and called for continued dialogue across political lines to address the complex problems affecting marginalized communities.
Elmograbi’s article reflects a growing trend of diverse voices supporting Trump’s 2024 campaign and underscores the inclusivity of conservative platforms in fostering such discussions.
The US political arena is deeply divided. Will Muslims, Arabs, and Africans continue to support Trump, or will more events unfold, prompting Trump to adopt new African and Muslim world policies?
