Chairman of the Sovereignty Council Holds Phone Call with President of South Sudan

Port Sudan, March 27, 2025

The Chairman of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, held a phone call today with President Salva Kiir Mayardit of South Sudan. During the call, General al-Burhan inquired about the current situation in South Sudan, particularly in light of recent developments in the city of Nasir, and expressed his wishes for lasting security and stability for the people of South Sudan.

Al-Burhan reaffirmed Sudan’s unwavering support, both from its government and its people, for South Sudan’s pursuit of peace and stability. He emphasized the deep-rooted relations between the two nations, which reflect the shared destiny of their brotherly peoples.

The Chairman of the Sovereignty Council also briefed President Kiir on the latest developments in Sudan, especially following recent victories by the Sudanese Armed Forces across multiple fronts in the ongoing “Battle of Dignity.”
