Sudan had taken a major stride in officially implicating the United Arab Emirates for all its sponsored actions against the nation and people of Sudan.

The move of forcing the UAE to stand before the ICJ is a well calculated move that came at the right time as the world is currently in deep need for an effective global judiciary body to help control global turmoil and prevent a third world war which is lingering around the corner due to the numerous conflicts in different parts of the world.
The Sudanese case against the UAE at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) revolves around allegations of complicity in genocide specifically, the ethnic cleansing on the Masalit tribe in West Darfur in 2023 that was executed by the RSF in 2023.
Unfortunately for the UAE and the RSF the case was well documented by members of the RSF themselves before they were latter adviced to avoid photograpĥy of their actions..Mass graves stand to prove the inhumane actions by RSF forces. The world at large saw the atrocities making it impossible to deny.
The case, formally known as “Application of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide in Sudan (Sudan vs. United Arab Emirates),” was instituted on March 5, 2025.
As cases in the ICJ may take years to conclude Sudan has requested the ICJ to indicate provisional measures to prevent further harm to the Masalit people while the case is pending..This is an important move to provide primary inditement for the UAE pending final judgement.
The court accepted the case and set Thursday, April 10, 2025 as the date for public hearings on the request for provisional measures
This step marks a significant milestone in Sudan’s pursuit of accountability for alleged human rights abuses.
The ICJ lacks a standing mechanism for enforcement of its ruling, none the less the outome of the hearing will have devastating moral, political and financial implication on the UAE if proven guilty.
The Emirates is aware of the grave situation and implication and are using all their money and political influence to avoid a showdown with global justice.
