Sovereignty Council Advisor Discusses Delivery of Humanitarian Aid with Relief Organizations

The Sovereignty Council’s Advisory Office for Organizations and Humanitarian Affairs held a meeting today with humanitarian organizations operating in Sudan. The session was attended by Lieutenant General Al-Sadiq Ismail Mahmoud, Advisor to the Sovereignty Council for Organizations and Humanitarian Affairs and Head of the National Emergency Committee, along with representatives from various relevant bodies.

The meeting reviewed general guidelines for humanitarian assistance, discussed the challenges facing humanitarian work in the country, and explored ongoing efforts to ensure aid reaches those in need. It also addressed ways to facilitate the work of relief teams and humanitarian personnel.

Lieutenant General Al-Sadiq reaffirmed the government’s commitment to delivering humanitarian aid to all displaced persons and those in need. He highlighted steps the Sudanese government has taken to support this effort, including the opening of multiple access points and aid corridors.

Salwa Adam Baniya, Commissioner General of the Humanitarian Aid Commission, welcomed the International Committee of the Red Cross’s announcement of increased humanitarian assistance to Sudan, noting that this would significantly bolster the country’s ongoing humanitarian efforts.

The meeting concluded with a joint call for enhanced coordination among all international partners and humanitarian organizations to ensure the delivery of aid to displaced populations in their respective areas.
