China Posts Record $1 Trillion Trade Surplus Despite U.S. Tariff War
by : Mohamed Saad kamil
In a landmark development, China has recorded a trade surplus of one trillion dollars for the first time in its history. Over the past eleven months, Chinese exports reached approximately $3.46 trillion, while imports amounted to $2.43 trillion — a remarkable outcome given the ongoing tariff dispute with the United States.
Despite losing 16.5% of its market share in the U.S., China has successfully shifted and expanded its export presence across key Asian and European markets. This strategic redirection has helped Beijing cushion the impact of strained U.S.-China trade ties.
Economists say the latest figures underline China’s growing resilience and its ability to diversify trade partnerships beyond North America — a trend that could reshape global trade dynamics in the years ahead.
