Khartoum – The Minister of Foreign Affairs Mariam Al-Sadiq Al-Mahdi received at her office today Head of Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Sudan Ambassador Robert van den Dool.
The minister voiced Sudan’s deep appreciation to the European Union for its political, economic and technical support to the country and its readiness to participate in the quadruple mediation mechanism for the negotiations on the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, besides its humanitarian aid for reception of the refugees in eastern Sudan.
She also indicated that Sudan looks forward for EU support in writing off its foreign debts, commending support of the European countries, especially France, for hosting the Paris Conference.
The Head of Delegation of the European Union to Sudan, on his part, congratulated the minister on assuming her post, lauding the progress that has been achieved by the transitional government in the various fields, affirming EU’s support to the democratic transition in Sudan.
The meeting also discussed arrangements for resumption of the strategic dialogue between Sudan and EU shortly.
