First Deputy: The National Committee will Issue Important Decisions Regarding the Establishment of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces

Khartoum 16-06-2021 — The First Vice-President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Chairman of the Supreme National Committee to Follow up on the Implementation of the Juba Peace Agreement, expressed Sudan’s thanks and appreciation for the great support it receives from the United Nations Integrated Mission to Support the Transitional Phase (UNITAMS).

During his meeting at his office in the Republican Palace today, His Excellency the delegation of the mission headed by Volker Peretz briefed the delegation on the progress of the implementation of the Juba Agreement for the Peace of Sudan, praising the continuous communication that the mission is making with the government.

Volcker said, in a press statement, that the meeting dealt with a number of outstanding issues related to the implementation of the Juba Agreement for the Peace of Sudan.

He said that the First Deputy informed him that the Supreme National Committee to follow up on the implementation of the Juba Peace Agreement will issue important decisions in the coming days regarding the establishment of the joint peacekeeping forces that will be composed of regular forces and peace partners.

The head of the mission pointed out that these decisions will receive great attention from the international community, which is monitoring developments in the situation in Sudan, especially in the implementation of the peace agreement.
