Irrigation Minister Directs Urgent Measures on Floods’ Effects in Rahad Agricultural Project

Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources, Prof. Yassir Abbas has announced urgent measures regarding the recent floods and torrential rains that hit Al-Rahad Agricultural Project.

The measures start by draining the accumulated water to Rahad River through the drainage system, along with a plan the set a scientific study on the causes of the great damage that occurred in the project and the residential sector.

Prof. Yassir Abbas pointed out the commitment of FAO to provide support on conducting the scientific study and the means of avoiding those causes.

The Minister directed, during his field visit to Rahad Project accompanied by Minister of Agriculture, Prof. El-Tahir Harbi and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources, Eng. Daw Al-Bait Abdulrahman Monsour, to harness all the mechanisms and capabilities of the Ministry to deal with removing the mitigating the effects of floods in Faw.
