Dagalo Directs to Cancel Consular Fees for Scholarship Students at Universities Abroad and Donates $100,000 to the Russian Community Fund

Moscow February 28, 2022 AD — Lieutenant-General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, Vice President of the Sovereign Council, met today with the Sudanese community and the staff of the Sudanese embassy in Russia, within the framework of his official visit to Moscow at the invitation of the Russian government.

His Excellency gave a detailed explanation to the members of the community about the current situation in the country in all fields and listened to the problems and obstacles facing the community, most of which are students and scholarships to study in Russia.

The obstacles facing students were limited to the increase in consular fees, the issuance of passports amounting to 200 dollars for the student, and the delay in disbursing grant amounts, housing, and health insurance.

Lieutenant-General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo directed the Ministry of Finance to cancel consular fees for students who received scholarships in all diaspora countries due to the harsh conditions they face, while donating $100,000 to support the Sudanese Community Fund in Russia, to meet the urgent needs, especially for students in light of the scarcity of resources. The Embassy.

His Eminence guarantees all the expenses of scholarship students from Sudanese universities to Russian universities to obtain higher degrees until the completion of their studies and has committed to following up on students’ problems in universities in the countries of the diaspora, especially in light of the current conditions. He praised the good reputation and great respect enjoyed by the Sudanese community and praised the efforts of the Sudanese Embassy in Moscow and its great cooperation with members of the community.

For his part, the Minister of Finance, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, promised to overcome all difficulties facing the students and to review the procedures in question, in coordination with the ministries of Foreign Affairs, Interior, and Higher Education.

In turn, the Chargé d’Affairs of the Sudanese Embassy in Moscow, Ambassador Onur Ahmed Onur, welcomed the visit of the Vice-President of the Sovereign Council and the accompanying delegation to Russia, stressing that the visit achieved its goals and created a good resonance in Russia, noting that the understandings that were made would build strong strategic relations in addition to the existing efforts. originally.

In this context, the head of the community, Fateh Al-Rahman Mahmoud, praised the visit of the Vice President of the Sovereignty Council and the accompanying delegation, to strengthen the bonds of communication and relations with Russia, pointing to the importance of the visit and the discussions that took place with officials in the Russian government.
