Dagalo in Juba with a High-Level Delegation

It is noteworthy that Lieutenant-General Dagalo led the mediation in the negotiation processes between the southern parties, representing the Government of Sudan, where his efforts were crowned with the formation of the Government of National Unity. Dagalo indicated in a press conference that his visit and the delegation accompanying him were commissioned by the President and members of the Sovereign Council, to see the progress of the implementation of the peace agreement in South Sudan, pointing to their continuous communication during the last period of the agreement’s life, with President Salva Kiir and his first deputy, Riek Machar, to follow up on the progress of the peace agreement. To that, Tut Galwak, Presidential Adviser for Security Affairs, expressed his country’s welcome to the visit of the Vice-President of the Sovereign Council and the accompanying delegation, praising the efforts of General Dagalo in achieving peace in South Sudan and his contribution to building confidence between the parties, pointing out that the visit aims to verify the implementation of an agreement. The Minister of Presidential Affairs of the Government of South Sudan, in a press statement, confirmed that the meeting was positive and expressed the level of brotherhood and friendship that the two countries have reached, and said that the meeting discussed the progress of implementing the revitalized peace agreement in South Sudan, as well as the peace process in Sudan, pointing to President Salva Kiir’s welcome Mayardit with the first team Daglo and the accompanying delegation in their second country.

Barnabas Benjamin explained that the President of the Republic of South Sudan stressed the importance of the two countries’ leadership addressing internal problems within the framework of the same house.
