Council Member, Lt-Gen Shams El-Din Kabbashi, Meets the Ambassador of the Republic of Egypt to Sudan

Khartoum 3-17-2022 – Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant-General Shams El-Din Kabbashi, affirmed Sudan’s keenness to support and promote cooperation with the Arab Republic of Egypt in various fields, to achieve the common interests of the peoples of the two countries.

During his meeting at the Republican Palace today, the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Sudan, Ambassador Hossam Issa, discussed the course of bilateral relations between Khartoum and Cairo, as well as the progress of implementing cooperation projects, especially in the field of electrical interconnection.

In a press statement, Ambassador Hossam Issa reiterated Egypt’s full support for the dialogue process between the Sudanese to achieve national consensus, support the ongoing development efforts, and support Sudan in regional and international forums.

He explained that the meeting reviewed the overall developments of bilateral relations, especially in their development aspects and areas of cooperation in infrastructure, educational and cultural projects, and the exchange of experiences.

The Egyptian ambassador indicated that, during the meeting, a member of the Sovereign Council, Lieutenant-General Rukn Kabashi, expressed a special interest in the process of electrical interconnection between Egypt and Sudan. (70) to (300) megawatts, gradually reaching (1,000) megawatts.

Ambassador Hossam Issa added that the meeting, which he described as transparent, frank, and consensual, touched on several issues in the fields of cooperation, including cooperation in the field of railways, scholarships, and training courses.
