Dr. Mohieldin Naeem Mohamed Saeed, the Minister of Energy and Petroleum, stated that during his recent visit to China, accompanied by Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, the Chinese company CNPC confirmed its readiness and willingness to inspect the refinery post-war for reconstruction purposes. This announcement came during his visit yesterday to the Khartoum Refinery, following its liberation from the militias’ control. He was received by the Director-General of the Khartoum Refinery, Engineer Alaa El-Din, along with a number of engineers and technicians.

The Minister outlined the extent of the damage, noting that several units within the refinery had been severely affected. He confirmed the loss of approximately 700,000 barrels of gasoil, equivalent to the cargo of an entire ship. Despite the significant losses, the Minister emphasized the high morale and enthusiasm of the refinery’s staff to rebuild as quickly as possible.

For his part, the Director-General of the refinery provided a comprehensive presentation detailing the extent of the losses sustained by the refinery and its core units. He explained that the destruction was systematic and would require substantial efforts to restore the refinery to its former state. This, he stressed, can only be achieved through determination, perseverance, and the hard work of its people.

It is worth noting that this visit followed the Minister’s immediate return from participating in the Energy Conference in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
