Al-Hadi Idris Gives Galwak Shield of Peace for His Role in the Sudan Peace Agreement

Khartoum May 28, 2022 (SUNA) – A member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Dr. Al-Hadi Idris, head of the Sudanese Revolutionary Front, granted Lieutenant-General Tut Galwak, Advisor to the President of the Republic of South Sudan for Security Affairs, Chairman of the Southern Mediation Committee “Peace Shield” in appreciation and gratitude for his great role in achieving the Juba Agreement For the peace of Sudan, in the presence of the member of the Sovereign Council, Mr. Taher Hajar, several leaders in southern Sudan, and several ministers and members of the Presidential Council of the Revolutionary Front.

A member of the Sovereign Council said, during his address to the celebration he held this evening, on this occasion, that the Juba Agreement opened a new window for peace and stability in Sudan, pointing out that the Republic of South Sudan is qualified to play a positive role in the process of political consensus in Sudan.

Dr. Al-Hadi Idris described Chancellor Tut as a “man of peace”, praising the role of the President of the Republic of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, in supporting the peace agreement in Sudan.

Dr. Al-Hadi renewed his commitment to the dedication of all parties to the peace process to implement the terms of the agreement, and he said, “We look forward to continuing the efforts of the Government of Southern Sudan to urge all objectors and non-signatories to join the peace process.”

He added, “Sudan’s peace will not be complete without the joining of all those who bear arms.”

His Excellency indicated that Sudan is going through a major political crisis and a state of political fragmentation, which negatively affected the overall situation in the country, reviewing the objectives of the initiative launched by the Revolutionary Front to resolve the Sudanese crisis, stressing the importance of dialogue between all components and political forces to resolve the crisis.

He affirmed the Revolutionary Front’s support for the great efforts undertaken by the tripartite mechanism to reach great understandings between the parties to the crisis, calling on regional and neighboring countries to support the Sudanese dialogue process.

“The Republic of South Sudan can form the supporting body for the tripartite mechanism,” he said.

He added that we look forward to a greater role for South Sudan with the brothers in the African and Arab surroundings to support the tripartite mechanism, declaring his welcome of any efforts in the interest of stability and support for Sudan.

Dr. stressed. Al-Hadi Idris stressed the importance of creating the appropriate atmosphere to support the dialogue process, pointing out that the coming period will witness appreciated efforts to prepare the environment for dialogue, calling on all parties to make concessions for the success and completion of the Sudanese dialogue.

For his part, Counselor Tut Galwak affirmed the keenness of the President of the Republic of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, to achieve peace and bring about the desired development in Sudan and his support for the process of political consensus.

He referred to President Salva Kiir’s directives to work to support all efforts aimed at implementing the Juba Agreement for the peace of Sudan, to follow it up, and overcome the obstacles it faces.

He pointed out that Sudan’s national security and stability are linked to the security and stability of South Sudan and neighboring countries, adding that his country will not accept any threats that affect the peace process in Sudan, calling on all Sudanese parties to work to promote peace and support efforts for political consensus, unify the home front and form a government that meets the aspirations of the people Al-Sudani stressed the importance of the return of the displaced and refugees to their areas.

Tut announced his country’s support for the tripartite mechanism’s efforts to resolve the Sudanese crisis, stressing the southern government’s keenness to support the initiative of the Revolutionary Front, and expressing hope for the stability of Sudan.

And he indicated that President Salva Kiir will visit Sudan during the coming period to support the Sudanese efforts to overcome the current crisis.

Turing the celebration, in addition to honoring Tut Qalawak, Dr. Dhiou Matouk, and the secretariat of the Mediation Committee, for their efforts in reaching and signing the peace agreement in Juba, capital of the Republic of South Sudan.
