Security and Defense Council Recommends Lifting State of Emergency and Releasing Detainees

Khartoum 29/05/2022 – Lieutenant-General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, head of the Transitional Sovereignty Council at the Republican Palace, chaired today the regular session of the Security and Defense Council.

 During the meeting, the Council discussed the overall security situation in the country and the need to create the appropriate atmosphere and atmosphere for dialogue and national consensus.

The Council expressed its appreciation and thanks to President Salva Kiir Mayardit, President of the Republic of South Sudan, and the tripartite mechanism for their efforts and their constant concern for the safety and stability of Sudan.

The Minister of Defense, Lieutenant-General Yassin Ibrahim, the official spokesman for the Council, said in a press statement that the Council made recommendations to the President of the Sovereign Council, which included lifting the state of emergency throughout the country and releasing all detainees under the emergency law in a way that does not conflict with laws related to issues of state security or criminal law and allowing Al Jazeera Mubasher channel broadcasting.
