
Dagalo Inspects the Krindag IDP Camp and Commits to Providing Protection for Voluntary Return

El Geneina 22/06/2022 – The Vice-President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant-General Muhammad Hamdan Dagalo, accompanied by two members of the Sovereignty Council, Dr. Al-Hadi Idris, Professor Al-Taher Abu Bakr Hajar, the Wali of West Darfur State, and the Sultan of all tribes of Dar Masalit, this evening, visited Krindaq camp for the displaced, in West Darfur, and listened to a field explanation from the camp elders about the situation of the displaced within government institutions in El Geneina, and their definite desire to return to the camp and then to their areas of origin.
He directed His Excellency to draw up a short, medium, and long-term plan for the immediate return, announcing the government’s commitment to providing security inside the camp, including shelter, water, and health materials, in preparation for the expected return of the displaced, stressing the provision of adequate protection for the returnees through joint forces to prevent the recurrence of any tribal conflicts in the future, in addition to initiating a societal dialogue between all components to end tribal conflicts.

For his part, Mr. Taher Abu Bakr Hajar, a member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, affirmed the government’s seriousness and commitment to providing protection for the displaced, as well as providing the necessary services that help stabilize and preserve human dignity.
In addition, Dr. Al-Hadi Idris said that one of the government’s priorities is to provide a decent life for any citizen, and to provide security, peace, and stability in all regions of the country, calling on the camp’s elders to show a spirit of responsibility towards their displaced families, and work to provide the appropriate atmosphere for their return, in cooperation and reconciliation with each other.
For their part, the women and youth of Kreinik camp expressed their thanks and appreciation to the Vice-President of the Sovereignty Council, for his interest and generous support for citizens, in the field of providing security, water, shelter, and food.
