Sovereignty Council VP Reviews the Darfur Region’s Situation

Khartoum – 6/11/2022 – Lieutenant-General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, Vice-President of the Sovereign Council, met today with the government of the Darfur region headed by the governor of the region, Mr. Moni Arko Minawi, and his deputy, Dr. Muhammad Issa Aliu, and the presence of the governors of North Darfur states, Nimr Muhammad Abdel Rahman, West Darfur, Khamis Abdullah Abkar, South Darfur-designate Hamid Al-Tijani Hanoon, the designated governor of East Darfur, Maulana Muhammad Adam Abdel-Rahman, and the designated wali of Central Darfur, Mr. Saad Adam Babiker.

The Vice-President was briefed on the situation in the Darfur region and the outcomes and recommendations of the Darfur Governors Conference headed by the region’s governor, which was held in Khartoum on the eighth and ninth of this June.

The designated Deputy Governor of Darfur, Muhammad Issa Aliw, said in statements that the meeting discussed with General Dagalo all thorny issues, including securing the agricultural season, the movement and movement of herders and the security situation, especially in West Darfur.

He stressed that the meeting stressed the need to continue meetings to discuss security, development, and services issues in Darfur states.
